If you clicked through the installation process for Windows 10 you probably agreed to a bunch of things that jeopardize your privacy online.

But, don't worry, we can fix it all in a couple of dozen clicks.

  1. Click on the Windows logo and then click on SETTINGS
  2. Within settings, it is easiest to just search search for the privacy settings. So, type "privacy" in the box labeled "Find a setting".
  3. Oddly, "Privacy settings" isn't the one on the top of the list. So locate this and click on it. It will look like this (see image below).

  4. Go through each of the 13 tabs and adjust your settings to your liking.
  5. You also need to go to their website to stop ads online.  You can set those settings here (you will need to login with your Microsoft account).  Turn both of the options off.

Once you have done this, your privacy should be protected a whole lot better than by just using the default settings.

Also, you may chose to disconnect your PC from your Microsoft account and only use a local account.  You can do this, and this is another step to take to protect your privacy.

You simply go to Settings then Accounts.
